Which dog breed can be killed by chocolate? My two dogs has eaten it before and their fine…?

Posted by admin on January 30th, 2010 and filed under fine chocolate | 18 Comments »

Or does it just vary??

my dogs are collie X kelpie and blue cattle dog…
They eaten over 5 full family share block of chocolate..and they never gotten sick or been close to kill.
Oh! Just to let you know, they managed to get them from tables etc…

ALL breeds of dogs can become seriously ill and could even die from eating chocolate. It is toxic to them. The darker it is, the more dangerous to them as it contains more cocoa and the ingredient theobromine is what makes them sick.

It can also be potentially fatal if eaten as it iritates the GI tract and be treated asap, such as induced vomiting to get it out of the system.
The size of the dog also matters, a smaller dog would be more affected by the same amount as a larger breed.

Theobromine’s effect on the body:
Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant
Cardiovascular stimulant
Increase blood pressure (mild)
Nausea and vomiting

Signs of toxicity are most commonly seen within 12 hours (or less) of chocolate ingestion:
- Excitement / nervousness / trembling
- Vomiting / diarrhea
- Excessive thirst / sometimes excessive urination (at higher levels of Theobromine toxicity)
- Muscle spasms
- Seizures
- Coma (rare
- Death (rare) — likely due to heart rhythm abnormalities

Your dogs may have been lucky in the fact they didnt become really ill, unless they had a bad case of diarrhoea at all? In which case the chocolate would have done that.
Next time they may not be so lucky!!

I bought expired chocolate debbie snacks.?

Posted by admin on January 30th, 2010 and filed under wholesale chocolate | 9 Comments »

today i went to a a wholesale store & they had debbie snack boxes 2 for a dollar, so i bought four, haha fattie.
anyway, i came come & i looked on the box & the expiration date said June 12 07 & today it’s Sept 10 07, is it safe to eat it?

I get really freaked out about eating expired foods, so would you say yes or no?

Even milk that has expired is still good for a day or two. Cake, I would not worry about. The shelf life on those type of items that have loads of preservatives in them are good for months after they expire. There was a program showing how long grocery items actually last after they have expired, and it really was quite interesting. Perishables don’t last, obviously, quite as long as shelved items, such as you bought. You are good to go, enjoy!

How do you sell chocolates fast when you have competion around?

Posted by admin on January 30th, 2010 and filed under chocolates | 5 Comments »

For school we have 2 sell chocolates and 4 other kinds on my street have to too.
All of you guys rock! this is my first time using this everyone has been so cool!!!

So move your sales team off your street, and onto another street where there’s not so much competition! Try to find a friendly business owner who’ll let you set up a table outside his front door. Or stand outside somewhere there’s a lot of friendly people … the post office maybe, or the library. If there’s a soccer field in your neighborhood, try selling there while a game’s going on.

Use your imagination! Try to figure out where you’d run into lots of hungry people!

why does dark chocolate taste so bitter? Is there a way to keep it healthy but make it sweeter?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under chocolate | 5 Comments »

I heard dark chocolate is better for you? Anyway to make it taste like milk chocolate with out the sugar?

Dark chocolate has a higher concentration of cocoa mass, and is inherently less sweet. It’s the nature of the beast — The reason it’s better for you is because it contains less sugar and more flavanoids…Sorry, but you’ll have to pick your poison!

The Vosges chocolate/chili pepper truffles have green mold growing in them. Why only the ones w/ chili pepper?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under chocolate truffles | 1 Comment »

I received a box of Vosges (high end & exotic) chocolate truffles, and the truffles that had chili pepper in them had green mold growing in them. Why is it only the ones w/ chili?

The enemy of ganache is moisture. What probably happened was something in the ingredients had a smidge of mold spores and the moisture allowed it to grow.

Vosges is a great company, you should write to them an explain what happened, they should be able to give you a credit or something to get some fresh ones.

What is a good gift that you can give to many people? Examples could be potted plants, or homemade chocolate.

Would your friends like going to a Chocolate Party/Demonstration?

Dove Chocolate (you know them…they make the Dove Promises) has a new division called Dove Chocolate at Home, they have Chocolate Martini’s and Chocolate Mousse and tools to help you make your own gourmet chocolates. Do you think your friends would have fun at a tasting party?

Please invite me! There’s not enough chocolate in the world. What the world needs now, is chocolate, sweet chocolate. Think Dionne Warwick.

What’s better, Swiss or Belgian chocolate?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under belgian chocolate | 12 Comments »

Specifically Lindt and Cote D’or.

It’s an individual taste, to me Belgian chocolates are too fatty/greasy in the mouth. Therefore, definitely Swiss.
