How do i make hot chocolate?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under belgian chocolate | 6 Comments »

i’ve always used the packets, but i recently bought some Belgian chocolate, and lots of people say it’s great chocolate and makes great hot chocolate. but i dont know how?

okay, heres what you do:

1) grate, shave the chocolate…this can be done with a cheese grater, using the fine side!
2) place the shavings into a cup. make sure theres lots, you want a rich cup of hot chocolate!
3) Now, add some boiling milk to this cup, pour the milk right onto the chocolate!
4) stir together quickly, and it should all be good.
5) drink it!=)

yummmm!

what gov’t regulations are there for a chocolate/candy store owner? I want to open a chocolate/candy store.

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under fine chocolate | 3 Comments »

We will be having bulk candy, dipped apples in chocolate, caramel, etc. Also, cotton candy, cookies, fudge, dipped strawberries and bananas as well as frozen drinks (non-alcoholic). We will also be carrying an assortment of fine chocolates. I’m not sure what regulations I have to adhere to and am looking for some answers. Thank you.

Depends on many factors. I’m assuming you are in the United States.
If you have employees you must have a federal Employer identification. If you the business is incorporated you need to file incorporation papers with the state. (Something applies in most jurisdictions in the business is a partnership.)
If you are not using your own name you need an assumed name certificate (Issued by the county in Texas, other states may vary)
In most states we will probably need to collect sales tax and need a state tax number.
You may need workers’ compensation insurance.
Health permit.
Building occupancy permit.

You might also check with your local chamber of commerce.

Christmas Log Recipe

Place butter and nuts in a shallow pan and heat in a 325° F oven for 15 minutes. Let nuts drain and cool.

Melt the Hershey bars in a double boiler, but do not let the water boil. Butter a sheet of waxed paper (about 1 foot long). Add marshmallows and nuts into the melted chocolate.

What do you think of this plan for a chicken theme park?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under wholesale chocolate | 4 Comments »

Your many wise words are beginning to sink in. There could be something in the karma malarky! Of course if I am going to participate in the wholesale slaughter of my erstwhile friends and companions (the chickens) it follows as some point it is all going to go dreadfully wrong.

Would I make peace if I turned the yard into a theme park?

As you would expect – Hetty (Chook No 1 – and with most to lose!) is all for it – and swears that she would take care of all the publicity work -(she’s good with words).

The only protests are coming from the cow and the ponies.
The cow assumes that men will come to oggle her ample bosoms and the ponies think that they are just going to be taken for a ride.

Am I opening up a can of worms that even the chickens won’t eat now that they are all so concerned about how they look and their weight?

I remember when life was so much simpler and all Ihad to worry about was a husband who stole chocolate out of the hen house!

Is it me thats weird?!

Yes it is you thats weird and we wouldnt have it any other way.

I dont think it would help much turning the old place into a chook theme park but just in case you do, here is my opinion.

Hetty has a point here. She is already well known as she has had her 15 minutes of fame on Y!A and gathered many fans so she is the obvious choice for PA.
I agree with the cow completely, you know what men are like, they never get over their bosom fixation from birth to grave. Its nice to know she is such a lady so I think that a lovely cow bra (ask britney spears for that shiney number she wore the other night), would do very nicely.
As for the ponies, they would do well to stampede for the hills, riderless of course.
The worms can have their own worm farm and if that doesnt work then its the hen house for sure.
And lastly the feathered ladies are all dieting, after all who wants to eat a skinny chook.

I think you have bitten off more than you can chew with this lot. Next time find somewhere else to hide your chocolate but make sure the old goat doesnt find it. I dont mean the one that wandered in, I mean the one on the couch.

Why do you need to add cream or milk to chocolates in a fondue pot?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010 and filed under chocolates | 2 Comments »

Ok, so I just got a fondue pot (not fountain), and all the "recipes" I’m seeing seem to include adding cream or some type of milk to the chocolates in the pot. I don’t understand why. Wouldn’t simply just melting chocolate be enough? What’s the reason for the additions?

You need to add it so it can make the chocolate more creamy and rich. It taste MUCH better with cream and/or milk. Try it without, then with. You taste a difference
