will a cookie cake taste fine without chocolate chips?

i am making a giant cookie cake for tomorrow (celebrating pi day at school) and i was finished with the cookie dough and was going to get chocolate chips and realized we don’t have any. my parents will not take me to the store so will it taste fine without chocolate chips??

It will be fine. If you have any other chips in the house, such as butterscotch, you could toss those in, or M&M’s. You could even chop up a candy bar. But even if you don’t have anything to add, your cake will taste just fine, as is.

only with chocolate milk does this happen. i can drink milk and be fine. i can eat any chocolate and be fine. when i drink chocolate milk though, im sitting on the toilet about 15 min later. why is that?

Well maybe the chocolate milk contains too much lactose.. try to buy those that contain lactase enzymes..

How much chocolate can affect your dog if they eat it?

Posted by admin on March 8th, 2010 and filed under fine chocolate | 9 Comments »

my stupid step brother left about a half a chocolate bar in his room, and my 50 pound beagle/shiba inu mix ate it yesterday. The bar said it was confectionate chocolate if that helps. and i believe it was dark chocolate. she seems fine now, not sick, but im still a little worried.

It depends on the dog. Some dogs are naturally more tolerant than others. You never know until the first time they get in to the chocolate. I must admit that my 60 lb dog gets into chocolate every so often, and he has only gotten sick once out of all his chocolate escapades. You’d know if he’s gonna react badly within an hour or so. The time he got sick, we had a birthday party and had chocolate cake and it had chocolate icing. We had it on the counter, and thought it was back far enough that he couldn’t reach it. We left for church the next morning and before we came home ( our service is only an hour long) he knocked down the cake and ate it all, about 2/3 of a home made round double layer cake. Needless to say he was really wobbly on his legs and looked awful. We called the vet who told us to give him peroxide to make him throw up to get it out of his stomach. He felt better after the vomiting, and was completely better the next day. We just gave him plenty of water and lots of lovin that night.

Keep an eye on him tonite. If he’s ok after a few hours, I think he will be ok. If not than call the vet asap.

Melting white chocolate in the microwave?

Posted by admin on March 6th, 2010 and filed under fine chocolate | 13 Comments »

I was making a semi sweet chocolate & white chocolate bark this morning and the semi sweet chocolate melted just fine in the microwave. When I melted the white chocolate morsals the bottom chips had turned brown and crusty! Yuck! What did I do wrong?

OK first you need to microwave the chocolate in 15 second intervals stirring in between each one. When the chocolate is mostly melted with some chunks left take it out and stir. Let it set of about two minutes and stir again. By letting it sit out the heat that it has retain with melt the rest of the chocolate without burning in AKA brown and crusty. If the chocolate is old or the bag has already been open the white chocolate will not melt at all, it will become a hunk and never completely melt. Using the microwave for white chocolate is fine and when your in a hurry there is no better way, Oh and make shur that no water comes in contact with your chocolate it will ruin it.
